Presidents Report 2001-
We are at the end of the footy year and what a season it has
been. After all the turmoil earlier in the year, over new clubsentering the
competition, we all settled down to do what we do best- produce fine young footballers
with a healthyattitude to life . Our under 8's, 9's,10's and 11's all performed
exceptionally well.Congratulations to the players, coaches and managers, and
of course the parents of these teams,we are looking forward to a long and fruitful
association. As this has always been the strength of our football club. Whilst
no points or scores should be kept in the younger age groups it is important
that we provide a safe, fun and healthy environment for these children to develop
their full potential. I firmly believe that we have acheived this goal and must
strive to maintain and improve in any possible way
To our youth footballers, WOW for the first time we had two teams go through
the regular season undefeated. Our under 12 team had an excellent chance to win
the flag, however lowered their colours to a better team on the eve of the grand
final. Our under 14 teams had a testing year with both teams contesting strongly
in their divisions The under 14 (1) were our benchmark team, they were our only
division 1 team and finished an honourable fifth. Our under 14 (4)'s had a good
year, many of these boys were only thirteen year olds. The addition of a few
boys from sister club Collingwood park power and some great effort from the
team managements helped the team be very competitive in most matches. A couple
of good wins by the team is a good reason to keep your heads up and look forward
to next season as true under 14's.
Now for the under 16's , as most are aware due to lack of numbers our boys teamed
up with Collingwood Park to become Logan Power. A great effort saw the boys
go through undefeated, and eventually winning the
premiership. Next to our under 18's, a great group of lads who along with
David sloan fought tooth and nail in every fixture. As you are no doubt aware
the under 18's is a stepping stone to our Senior club. with several under 18's
playing in the senior ranks currently. This age group is an important link to
our clubs growth as a whole. Well done fellows.
From my Committee, Coaches and helpers down to every person that runs water,
boundary goal umpires to the mums and dads who wash with guernseys,-my sincere
thanks. without your help and support our job would be more difficult.
I look forward to your return next year. Yours in footy, Mark Fischer. President.
