Gene stood at Sam's door about to depart.

"Don't go, Gene.  I mean not yet."

Gene sighed and turned towards him.

"What's up with you?"

"Look, I know you'll say it's girlie but... but sometimes I just don't want to be alone."

"You really are a great, girlie poof.  Oh, come here!"

Sam stood up and Gene wrapped strong arms around him.

"You don't mind?"

"Just don't tell anyone, all right?"

"Your secret is safe with me."

"That better?"

"Wonderful.  Don't stop."

Held tight in a bear hug, Sam Tyler rested his cheek against Gene Hunt's - and breathed once more.
