Casual conversations, laughter and good cheer.  Glasses raised and toasts drunk in a haze of stale air and cigarette smoke.  Amidst the cacophony of sound two pairs of eyes meet across the crowd; meaningful glances of hazel and green, each knowing that their time will come, but not yet.

As the evening wears on and voices become slurred they circulate.  Slowly, inevitably, they gravitate towards one another.

Much later, in a darkened corner, a hand rests on a corded thigh, car keys are produced and eyes meet once more, memories of passion and the foreshadowing of heat lighting their depths.
