Drabble: The Watcher

Written for the Friday Drabble Challenge on Lifein1973 Friday 4 June 2010.  Prompts: From the p.o.v. of a minor Life on Mars character and Disco.

See them every day in CID, fighting yet working in unison, always winning out in the end.  Heard the boss moved in with the guv too.  Once heard the guv say the boss cooks better than his missus ever did.  Just two blokes sharing.

Then came the night I saw them at the disco - and suddenly my copper's instinct took over.  For one thing, they ignored the birds they danced with; for another, they left quite early.

What happened next was unremarkable unless you knew them - the guv threw the car keys to the boss.  Now I knew for sure!
