Written for the Friday Drabble Challenge on Lifein1973 Friday 5 June 2009.  Prompt: Gene's mother tells all.

"Nora!  I heard your Gene's gettin' a divorce."

"Oh, you heard that, did you?"

"So it's true?"

"Yeah, it's true.  Doris is gone and Sam's moved in."

"'Sam'?  Your Gene is living with a bloke?"

"Don't you go gettin' any funny notions.  They're just sharing but he can cook. Wants to borrow me recipe books, he does.  Wants to know Gene's favourite dishes."

"A word to the wise, Nora.  A bloke who can cook is worth his weight in gold.  Are you sure they're 'just sharing'?"

"I told you, Liz, don't you go gettin' any funny notions."

"Who me?  Never!"
