A BRIEF INTRODUCTION TO
THE TE MANA COMBAT GROUP

OUR HISTORY

The Te Mana Combat Group first came together, under the guidance of it's founder Brook Benton Tu, in 1996. Inspired by a friend to begin sharing his vast knowledge and experience, it soon became apparent, to even the most advanced of martial artists, that Mr Tu is a true Master of Combat Craft and his simple, efficient, style has many remarkable qualities.

Since then, he has gone on to instruct hundreds of students, of all ages and walks of life - From high ranking martial artists to professional security and military people, family groups and individuals, the style he developed has is gaining popularity among those who seek an honest, practical and unique style of self defence.

The System, today, is a finely honed style of self defence which has been documented and standardized to such a degree that it can now be fairly called a true style, in it's own right. Te Mana Combat does not take reference from other martial arts for it's instruction; nor is it a composite of, for example, Boxing and Asian martial arts disguised as a 'new idea'.

OUR PURPOSE

The purpose of our group is multi-layered and our responsibility, to our students and the greater community, is our first concern.

At one level, the organization is a dedicated combat instruction outlet; at another level, it is a group working towards promoting the idealism and humanitarian philosophies of our founder, Brook Benton Tu.

We see our general goals in the following manner ....

To provide safe, responsible instruction.

To protect the integrity of the System.

To promote the humanitarian ethics of the System.

To standardize our training programs.

To observe the standards of the national martial arts training and fitness coaching authorities.

To teach responsibility for Law and Community.

To liase and work with community groups, providing quality self defence instruction, at minimal cost.

To respect the individuality of every person; their cultural background and social circumstance.

To share our knowledge, in a bid to increase the database of technical understanding within the whole martial arts and self defence industry.

To promote openness and fraternity among all styles, instructors and students.

To protect the 'Ariki'.

THE CODE OF CONDUCT

Our deep commitment to the Code of Conduct is one way in which we can insure that the future of our system will remain in the hands of good, honest people, from all walks of life, in all communities. The Code is separated into categories which further expand on the headline principle .....

SERVICE

HUMILITY

INTEGRITY

DISCIPLINE

INITIATIVE

HOSPITALITY

ESPRIT d'CORP

The grace and efficiency of the Te Mana Combat System is only one aspect of it's worth. For us, the most important aspect of Te Mana is that wherever there is a Te Mana Combat Group that group is an asset to the community in which it resides.

OUR RIGHT OF REFUSAL

The System is open to the general public through the Te Mana Combat Club-Western Sydney or through private lessons with it's qualified instructors, in other areas.

However, we do impose some limitations on access to instruction in the Te Mana Combat System and we reserve the right to refuse tuition to some individuals. Although we wish to open the system to as many people as would care to study our craft we also understand that not all people who wish to take the system should ----

"The System is not to be placed in the hands of
those who may not uphold our values and ethics, or
to those who may injure themselves, and others".
- Brook B Tu
