Welcome to Verdellho Hounds.

Our family is made up of Rhonda, Chris and our daughter, Sarah Tait along with our Miniature Smooth Dachshunds, the Whippet gang, one Tibetan Spaniel, our four cats, various parrots, finches and chooks, and lastly but not least, Cleo the Diamond Python.

At Verdellho Hounds we breed and show Dachshunds (Miniature Smooth) that are raised and cared for in a loving family environment.

We breed for health, temperament and to the Australian standard. All our dachshunds have been PRA test clear.

Our family has had a long association with dog showing, with Rhonda’s parents showing Kelpies in the past and her brother’s family successfully showing Basset Hounds in both conformation and obedience. Rhonda grew up with Dachshunds, being given her first Dachshund Smooth when she was only 5 years old.

We started showing whippets in 1999 when we purchased our first Whippet puppy, Ch Calahorra Magic Moment. We were very successful with this dog and very quickly showed him to his title. It truly was a “magic moment” and from then on we were hooked.

We have also successfully shown Oriental Cats with our black Oriental, Baxter (Karuss Stormbringer) winning 4th Best in Show at Sydney Royal 2006. Baxter was proudly bred by Rhonda’s niece, Karen Strickland.

As of May we will be having a break from showing for a few months while Chris recuperates from major surgery (double spinal fusion).

11 April - At our third show for 2009 Verdellho After Shock wins 1st in the Puppy Dog class and his sister Verdellho After Dark gets 2nd in the Puppy Bitch Class at The Dachshund Club of NSW Inc 112th Championship Show under Mr P Lundstrom (Sweden)

10 April - At our second show for 2009 Verdellho After Shock wins 1st in the Puppy Dog class and his sister Verdellho After Dark gets 3rd in the Puppy Bitch Class at The Dachshund Club of NSW Inc 111th Championship Show under Jill Peak (UK)

21 February - At our first show for 2009 Verdellho After Shock wins 1st in the Puppy Dog class and his sister Verdellho After Dark gets Reserve Bitch Challenge from the Puppy Class against adult competition and also beats her brother for Puppy of Breed at Hunter River A & H Association under Breed specialist Mr P Nordstrom (NSW)
