A big hello to all Haven Organic friends and all our new customers! It's been a while since the last HAVENews went out so lots has happened and many of you will know OneGroup has added many great new certified organic products and continues to be an inspiration and a leader in the field of ethical products and business practices. I am proud to be associated with the company since 2004 onlne and during this year I'll endeavour to bring you product highlights vital eco news and specials of course! I would also like to invite readers to please send in their comments and testimonials for use in future issues. I would love for this to become an interactive newsletter and for readers to feel they can use this as a forum for all things eco, health and self-improvement. On a personal note, I have been on the path of personal growth since my late teens and if people are interested I would be happy if you would indicate whether you would like to include selected tools that I have found to be helpful in self awareness and emotional healing etc. I have studied a number of energy healing techniques including Reiki, Thought Field Therapy, Quantum Touch and Healing Codesall wonderfully powerful tools to have in the home for self and family. For me especially as I live in a remote part of NSW it has been invaluable for our family at times to have these tools for emergency and maintenance treatment. I think many of us who are environmentally aware and interested in natural health also utilize self-growth technology which is getting more and more evolved, so please email with your comments or expressions of interest. "It is not a surprise because studies for many years have shown synthetic and industrial chemicals in humans, but it is particularly concerning that the developing fetus is being exposed," said Megan Schwarzman, a family physician at San Francisco General Hospital and a research scientist in environmental public health at UC Berkeley. "This is a particularly vulnerable time, and there is no reason for the chemicals to be there." It was the 11th time the working group

Seven of the 10 babies had in their umbilical cord blood synthetic musks known as Galaxolide and Tonalide, which are toxic to aquatic life and have been shown in preliminary studies to cause hormonal changes. The musk is used in scented soaps, perfumes and colognes, indicating the infants were contaminated by cosmetics their mothers used. "It means the chemicals are crossing the placenta and getting into babies in the womb," said Stacy Malkan, a member of San Francisco's Campaign for Safe Cosmetics and the author of "Not Just a Pretty Face: The Ugly Side of the Beauty Industry." Another chemical found in the umbilical cords was bisphenol A, or BPA, a synthetic estrogen used in plastics that has been linked to breast cancer and hormonal problems. A study of Chinese factory workers released last month found an increased risk of sexual dysfunction from exposure to large amounts of the chemical. It was the first time the synthetic musks and BPA were found in newborns. Products used in flame retardants, rocket fuels, on frying pans and in computer circuit boards were found in the infants in addition to lead, mercury and known carcinogens, according to the study. cosmetics companies do not have to list synthetic chemicals in
their products because fragrances are considered trade secrets. "You won't find these chemicals on the label of your favorite perfume because companies don't have to tell us what is in a fragrance," Malkan said. "That's just wrong. Consumers have the right to know what chemicals we are putting into our bodies." On Wednesday, California and 12 other states issued a joint statement saying federal laws designed to protect the public from toxic chemicals are too weak. I got HUGE with my son, Eliot. I only gained 30 lbs, but he was a big baby,especially since I am so tiny, 4 foot 11 inches(on a good day!)! When I was pregnant, I couldn't find a lotion I felt was acceptable to put on my skin, because I was trying to limit the amount of chemicals I was using. In Hindsight I could have used an organic olive oil, but the damage is done. When I got the Mother and Baby sample pack I saw the Belly and Breast Balm. I read what it was supposed to do, and thought to myself, I bet it will work on existing stretch marks too. It was worth a shot right?? Oh, and I have been working really hard on loosing weight, well, the more weight I lost the worse the stretch marks looked. This made loosing all this weight(20lbs to date!! yay for me!) not as rewarding. So, 3-4 weeks ago I started using the Balm. I have seen a HUGE improvement! The marks are still there but they are not as deep, a TON fainter and it no longer feels like I am running my hands over a mountain range!!!!! I am so, SO happy and am confident it will continue to improve!
