Panasonic LX3 Focus Button
No, the focus button is not the shutter button, but is the little button above the on/off switch.....
It is useful and not there just to fill up space on the top of the camera.
Used during shooting.....
If
in auto focus then pressing the focus button allows the focus spot to
be moved around the frame using the joystick or the 4 way buttons.
Useful for macro and tripod use. A bit weird with multi spot focus but
makes more sense with say 1 area focus.
If in manual focus then pressing the focus button causes auto focus and then can further fine tune with manual focus controls.
Used during playback....
In
playback mode pressing the focus button when image is at 1X on screen
then it will jump to 4X and be centered on the focus point that was
used. If manual focus was used then it says "no focus information" and
stays at 1X.
In playback no matter what magnification is being shown, pressing the focus button makes it jump back to 1X display.
Used for service mode....
A
combination of buttons is pressed that includes the focus button to
enable the service mode and to toggle through the service pages, see here for that.
