With all this current enthusiasm over EZ I thought it a sensible idea to go back to good old fashioned digital zoom on the LX3 and see what it can promise. Below is a quick chart to see what maximum size prints to expect at a minimal sort of 200 pixels per inch if using a good clean file to start with.
I regard the print sizes below as the maximum and have printed progressive crops to prove to myself that 200 dpi is a sensible lower limit good enough for everyday small prints and more suitable for larger prints which hopefully don't get examined too closely.

From that chart I would be quite happy to run to an LCD indicated 6x zoom (=2.4x digital zoom) as a top limit for postcard sized printing and limit to an LCD indicated 3x (=1.2x digital zoom) if wanting approx A4 or 8"x10" size. I use 16:9 ratio all the time but the 3:2 and 4:3 settings would provide a similar result.
Later I will try a thorough post process crop vs EZ vs digital zoom comparison to find some truth in all this.
