Olympus Fn Button Customisation

This will eventually cover more Pen and OM-D bodies but to start I'll chart the customisation of the Fn and Rec buttons on the E-PL1. The E-M5 Fn button customisation is already covered nicely here.
The individual manuals never seem to cover the possibilities on all cameras, they just say "some limitations on some buttons". So you do need to cycle through all possibilities with the camera in hand to see what can be set.

E-PL1 - Only two buttons available for customisation, the Fn button and the Rec button (Rec is the default video start/stop red button ). Here are the possibilities for each button. Please realise that if, say, the Rec button is left on video start/stop then the Fn button cannot be also made into video start/stop. These complete lists are only seen if both buttons are set to off. Custom Menu B - Button - to find the button settings.

Fn	Rec	Notes
Off	Off	Nothing happens when button is pressed.
LCD Backlight on/off	LCD Backlight on/off	Toggles the backlight on/off, may be of use in theatres to limit annoyance to others. It is disabled when the VF-2/3 is mounted - LCD or VF always on.
Record video start/stop	Record video start/stop	Press to start video and press again to stop. One still image can be taken during a video (that was started with the Rec button) by pressing the shutter, but it breaks the video into two files.
AEL/AFL	AEL/AFL	Toggles exposure lock or initiates AF if Mode is set appropriately. Quite complex possibilities here. Use the Mode settings found in Custom Menu B - AEL/AFL to set up desired camera operation and also desired Fn/Rec button operation.
Underwater 1 & 2	Underwater 1 & 2	Use in underwater housing to toggle between near and far. Not explained at all in manual.
My Mode	My Mode	Need to hold button down while shooting to invoke the selected MyMode.
Test picture, no save	Test picture, no save	Need to hold while shooting, the image only appears on review and it is clearly labelled "Test". The image is not saved to card.
RAW + jpeg	RAW + jpeg	If camera set to jpeg only, then this button setting will toggle between RAW+jpeg and jpeg only modes.
Manual Focus	Manual Focus	Toggles between Manual Focus and the AF mode that has been set.
Focus home position	Focus home position	Sets the optional 10x or 14x focus box to its current position so that it will reappear there at next turn on and magnify is pressed to get from the default 7x box to the smaller box.
One Touch White Balance	One Touch White Balance	Hold down button, aim at white or neutral grey paper and fill the screen, press shutter. Mode now set to your custom white balance. Use SCP to get back to Auto WB or whatever was needed later.
DOF Preview	DOF Preview	Holding button puts aperture at selected setting, this is the only way to see the effect of the chosen aperture before taking the shot. Otherwise the aperture keeps changing randomly to suit light conditions during preview.
Face Detect	Face Detect	Toggles face detect on and off. When on also causes some other image improvements to occur to help obtain a more successful image.
