Olympus E-PL1 Fn and Red Buttons
Found in Custom menu (gear wheel) E. Page 80 of my manual.
These can be re-configured to make the camera more useful.
In
my case I use very little video so the Red button became a more useful
Depth of Field Preview button. My Fn button is now the Focus set to
home button. It helps to have non-intrusive functions like this as
accidental mashing of the buttons while handling the camera could cause
severe changes to behaviour that may cause frustration.
Later.....
after some months of use I have dropped back to using the Red button
for video, mainly because I want to use more short video clips in my
slide shows and that Red button is just so convenient. An accidental
mash of the Red button does cause the odd short video of my feet while
walking, but hey, that's easily erased. I need to get back in the habit
of turning off after a shot.
Also now I have the Fn button set
to lock exposure, this ties in with the normal camera mode I have set
S-AF Mode 2 where half press sets focus and full press sets exposure, except of
course when I have previously set and locked exposure with the Fn
button. At the end of a sequence or the single shot, then I press Fn
again to toggle off that set exposure.
