Olympus Pen & OM-D Firmware Updates

Back to Menu Page

Updating the firmware in Olympus camera bodies, lenses and flashes is all done with the camera connected via USB to the computer, and an online update is done direct to the item in question. If using Panasonic lenses on the Olympus body, those can also be updated using the online method. Find details from here..... http://www.olympus.co.jp/en/support/imsg/digicamera/download/software/firm/e1/index.cfm

Recommended is to download Olympus Viewer 3 from http://support.olympus-imaging.com/ov3download/ where it  asks for an Olympus camera serial number (on bottom of camera) before proceeding. This program can do RAW conversions and duplicate any camera jpeg settings with the note that from V1.21 update allows earlier camera RAW files to use later model camera art filters. Nice, a free feature upgrade for your camera.

The Updater program is also installed at the same time as Viewer 3. Of if you require just the update program alone then it can be found at  http://www.olympus.co.jp/en/support/imsg/digicamera/download/software/camera/camera.cfm

Follow the on screen directions and always allow the camera LCD to get to the final OK screen before touching anything.

The advice is to very carefully read this page first before connecting anything http://www.olympus.co.jp/en/support/imsg/digicamera/download/software/camera/cameraupdate.cfm

If you use Panasonic lenses on your Olympus body then they can be updated via the same online system.

A side note is that Panasonic body owners always update their bodies by downloading update files to a memory card and then using that off-line to update their cameras, if they have Olympus lenses then update files have to be downloaded from Olympus to a memory card and use the same off-line method. For those people with Panasonic bodies and Olympus lenses that need updating then they need this page http://www.olympus.co.jp/en/support/imsg/digicamera/download/software/fourthirds_olylens.cfm
