Reunion 2010

Back to Menu

Now that we have established that we can organise ourselves into having a reunion (the 2007 one being after a brief pause of more than 50 years) we have shown that we can do it again! Only three years later and another small reunion, this time at Marigolds restaurant in Sydney. The trigger for this occasion appears to have been Brian visiting from USA. A general view of the table with a few faces out of the frame......

Here's a concise and sensible (as always) review of the occasion from Jan.......

-----------------

What a great lunch! I am still amazed by the friendship when we all get together. It is interesting that it is not just the classmates but our spouses are getting to know every one and enjoy themselves too. There really is something very special about the relationships that have come from those two years.

The people who were there yesterday are:
Andersons Andrew, Bagnall Brian, Bryce Brock and Anna, Cohen David and Kathi, Dalton Stephen and Angelique, Fullager John, Ghys (Ferguson) Lyn, Green Jan (Wilson) and Graeme, Hatherley Frank, Keating Sue (McKechnie), Neal Sarah, Parsons Guy and Lyn

and we received apologies from
Allen (Reid) Valerie, Denny James, Gaskin Paul, Hirst John, Kable John, Lowenthal Ray, Mattiske Ron, Pearce Elizabeth, Pollitt Dick.

Thanks everyone for your support and help in getting this to happen.
Cheers
Jan
---------

It indeed was a very nice day and luckily this time there was no massive effort needed to make huge poster displays, write songbooks etc. The stress was less for the organisers. Thanks to Sarah for being the table booker and organiser of funds and to Jan for the general shepherding work. And of course Marigolds was a good choice, we all enjoyed the yum cha.

Mostly it was old friends talking together and catching up, strange that after all these years there is still the same old easy familiarity and it seems that some of us actually grew up and matured a bit from those days with Miss Acason. Of course the various partners mixed in very nicely indeed to complete the happy family.

Naturally Brian just had to be the one who joined the crowd at 4am to disrobe and be pictured on the steps of the Opera House along with 5,000 or so others. It will be  game of "pick the bottom" when the images are published.

A future suggestion......

My feeble brainwave is that we all will be facing our 70th birthdays coming up starting about mid to late 2011 going to near mid 2012 so maybe a suitable forward date could be thought about to have a combined happy 70th. Some mathematics genius amongst us can surely work out the central birthday date for us all. Or aim for the last one of the bunch to have the 70th so we all can celebrate getting to that milestone together. Just think, if only 10 of us get together, that's 700 years of life experience!

Best regards to all ............ Guy
