Ireland and UK Holiday 2015, 6th June

London, stay at Golders Green

Total tourist day, just like the other 20 million tourists that seemed to be in London today. Caught the Underground to Bank station, and wandered from there. St Pauls, Monument, Tower of London, Tower Bridge, St Katharine Yacht Haven then home again to Golders Green. Weather sunny with fluffy clouds, bit of a cold wind blowing when in the shade, but a nice day overall.

View of St Pauls from the roof of the One New Change building, free access to 6th floor roof area......

A slightly wackier fisheye view from the street......

Turn around with back to St Pauls and the view is towards the Millenium Footbridge......

Do it yourself tour of London......

Easy to see which month it is on this building.....

Nearly every side street has some detail of interest......

Next the Monument to the Great Fire of London (it started near here), you can climb it, we didn't........

Detail of the top of the Monument, represents flames it seems.....

The old original London Bridge long time gone, but this reminder lives on......

The Thames is at low tide so a good chance to use a metal detector to look for treasure......

Detail of the wind direction indicator on top of what was once the Billingsgate Fish Market building......

The Tower of London in behind its usual confusion of buildings, we didn't visit, been there before, today was totally swamped by tourists......

A more familiar view from across the river, the cranes are everywhere, cannot be avoided in most photos.....

On Tower bridge approach.......

A more classic view, the approach parts are more interesting than the middle bit that lifts up.......

The trend seems to be to make new buildings more weird than the ones before it.....

Looking down-river from the Tower Bridge........

Faulty sundial, not adjusted for daylight saving time......

In St Katharine Yacht Haven......

Time to get the Underground home again, always hot and close in there, nice to escape from as Golders Green is an above ground station. This is at Moorgate station.......

The above is only a tiny sampling of the total of  the 577 stills and videos we took today, Lyn always takes more shots than I do and when I choose shots it can be from either of us. More London tomorrow.
