Ireland and UK Holiday 2015, 1st June

To Doolin (and Bank Holiday)

It may officially be the first day of summer in Ireland but the gale force winds and rain and low temperatures made a nonsense of that. A very unpleasant day, but the rain eased off late in the day and allowed us to see the Cliffs of Moher.

Not far from the excellent B&B we saw this 15th century Carrigafoyle Castle ruin, still able to climb up inside it, the wall sort of missing because of cannon fire some time back.....

On to the car ferry to save maybe 130km or so of driving going to Clare county.........

Cutesy shop in Doolin near where we are staying tonight.....

I'm desperate for photos for today so here is the hostel place where we are staying in Doolin, we are in the bottom right window....

Sea a bit rough, from Doolin Pier looking back towards the Cliffs of Moher, at least the rain had eased.....

At the Cliffs of Moher, no sense of scale here but they are big, looking south down the coast.....

And then turn around and face north to see this part, wind crazily strong, nearly blowing us over at times....
