Teaching Notes

Australia's indigenous peoples have created beautiful and magical dreaming stories …..they can be easily researched on the Net using dreaming stories, or stories of the dreamtime as search words or found in books.

The dreamtime was a very special time...a time in which the world was clean and unpolluted .....when humans were animal spirits roaming the landscape. In some dreamtime stories a magical rainbow serpent is presented as the creator of landforms. John Wansley is such a creator. His incredible life's work will inspire students to truly value our natural world and the creatures which inhabit it.

But what kind of world would our children create if they were given the opportunity? By utilising the rainbow serpent imagery children can too be empowered to create a new world in their imaginations….armed with the knowledge and understandings of conservation, inclusivity and hope..and appreciating the importance of creating happy endings for everyone…."win-win" for all..then their imaginations can soar………..

This could be undertaken as a group, class or individual project…or documented as webpages to share with others.
