Rapunzel

Once upon a time there was a beautiful girl called Rapunzel. She had long golden hair and could sing like a bird. When Rapunzel was a child, a wicked witch had taken her from her parents. The witch kept Rapunzel in a big, tall tower with one small window at the top with no entrance below. Each morning Rapunzel would open the window to sing and each morning the witch came with some bread and milk. On arriving, she called up to the window:

“Rapunzel! Rapunzel! Let down your hair.”

Then Rapunzel uncoiled her long hair and the witch would climb up the hair. One day, a few years later, a prince was riding through the forest and heard Rapunzel singing. He was enchanted by her voice, and again and again went back to the tower to listen. One morning, while the prince was hiding in the bushes near by, the witch arrived and her heard her chant to Rapunzel:

Then he watched in amazement as the witch climbed up Rapunzel’s long hair. The very next day as the sun went down, he decided to try the chant himself.

“Rapunzel! Rapunzel! Let down your hair.”

He called in a gruff voice, just like the witches. Rapunzel uncoiled her hair and in a few seconds the prince had climbed up her hair. At first Rapunzel was afraid. She had never seen a prince before. But he was gentle, kind and very handsome. After that he visited her every evening and soon Rapunzel loved him as much as he loved her. But one morning Rapunzel said to the witch:

“Why are you so rough when you climb up my hair? The prince never hurts me.”  Immediately, the witch knew that Rapunzel had been tricking her. When she knew this she took Rapunzel back to her parents that she had never met before. The prince though, found Rapunzel and took her and her family to safety and the wicked witch to his palace. The prince asked the magician to make a potion to heal the witch from her nastiness and cruelness. Then the witch fell in love with the magician and they got married and Rapunzel got married to the prince and they had two children. The nice witch and the wizard made their own cottage. Everyone lived happily ever after ……  (as usual).

The Three Little Pigs and the Big, Not-so bad Wolf

fairystoryjohnno.jpg (8009 bytes)

by Jonathan

One day three piglets named Jack, Henry and George were returning from playing footy outside when their mum told them that she had bought three new footballs for the pigs. “HOORAY!” they shouted.

“But,” their mum said.  “I have only bought them because there is a famine and you must leave home due to food loss, and I will keep the old football.”  She gave each pig $500 and sent them on their way.  Now, these pigs were smart enough to know that they should build their houses with this money (to buy building equipment, not build a house of money).  However, George was not too bright and nor was he a great bargain finder. Henry was smarter, but still not smart enough to know a bargain.  But Jack, he was brainy and good at finding low prices!

***

So, George decided to build a house made of straw.  He found a dairy farmer who was willing to sell some straw for $501.  Therefore, George had to milk the cows once for $1 so that he could afford the straw.  Meanwhile, Henry saw a log cabin and thought, “I’d LOVE a log house like that.”  A builder happened to be walking by, and he said to the pig, “What did you say you wanted?”

“A house of wood,” replied Henry.  The builder saw the log cabin and realized that Henry wanted a log cabin like that one.  “Sure, I’ll build you one,” said the builder, with a secret grin.  “Although, it will cost $500!”

“My, that’s cheap,” exclaimed the pig.

“Can I have your name and number, please?” asked the builder.

“Well, my name is Henry Piggot and my phone number is 0000 0000,” said piggy. “Probably based on his brain power,” thought the builder.

Two days later, Henry gave the builder $500 and the builder quickly moved off.  Henry found out why the house was so cheap and why the builder moved away so quickly and why he seemed so secretive and so on almost immediately, because he saw the house and could you believe it was made of just simple STICKS? “NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!” cried Henry.   Jack, in the mean time, had been thinking (unlike the other pigs) about how he should build his house.  In the end, he decided to go bargain hunting for bricks and cement.   While walking down the street, he saw a person dragging some cement across the road.

“Can I have that cement?” he asked.

“Yeah, for $100,” said the man.

“Oh, that’s expensive,” said Jack.

“Why not sell it for $5, to get rid of it?” asked the clever pig.

“Well, I guess, here you go.”  Jack Piggot handed him the money and was off to buy some bricks from the builder who cheated Henry with the sticks (Jack didn’t know this).  He went up and said, “Can I have those fine bricks there for $455?” he asked.  The builder, noticing that Jack would try to get these bricks with his life in his desperation said, “Sure, but I warn you, they could collapse any moment now because they’re practically hollow!” “That doesn’t matter,” said Jack.  “I’ll have them good again in a second.”  The builder, knowing it would cost more money to mend the bricks, gave him the bricks for just $400, thinking Jack would go to his friend who he worked with (the builder and his friend decided the builder would sell bad bricks and his friend would rip off more money for the mending).  Piggy, however, decided he would use his spare concrete for filling in the holes.

So, the three pigs had finished their houses.  They were all proud of them, except for Henry, who just had to go with what he’d got.  Now, there was a bad wolf who roamed the countryside looking for meat.  So, you can imagine his joy when the Piggots moved in.  He jumped, he danced, he hopped and he pranced!  To him, a pork sausage was Heaven on Earth.  Three pork sausages were just pure heaven!  He went up to George’s house and said, “Little pig, little pig, let me come in!”  And George replied, “Wait a moment, my favourite TV programme is just finishing.”  So the wolf stamped his foot and shouted, “IT’S SUPPOSED TO RYHME, YOU ANNOYING PIG!”  So George said, “Um, um, wait ‘till I’ve finished watching Tin-Tin.”

You watch that!” cried the wolf “HA, HA, HA!”  Pig turned scarlet.  “Well, anyway, I’m blowing down your house so that I can have some pork.”

“NOOOOOO!” cried George.  “Some straw has cow dung in it!”  But it was too late.  Oh, what a mess it made.  The wolf was covered in sticky manure.  Well, at least this gave piggy a distraction for escaping.  Next, the wolf came to Henry’s house.  “Little pigs, little pigs, let me come in!” the wolf sung.  Henry, who knew what poetic license was, said, “No no, no no, not by the hair (that’s the poetic license bit) of my chinny, chin, chin.” “Good pig,” the wolf replied.  “I will count to five before eating you now as a present.”  So the pigs booby trapped the house while the wolf counted, “1, 64, 657, 462, 20, 584, 777, 9, 4, 5!!!”   He blew the house in and was covered in sticks, which stuck to the manure.  The pigs ran to Jack’s house while he got the sticks out of his mouth. A very angry wolf arrived at Jack’s house waving some white socks on a stick, and he put his signature on a piece of paper which said,

"If the wolf does not attack the pigs, the pigs will not give the wolf a hard time, OR a manure bath either for that matter.”

Wolf..

And the pigs sent it back with, “Try some veggies or fruit, they’re nice!”

Jack, George, and Henry.

****

And as for the crooks, they stopped their life of crime and became farmers with the wolf and pigs.  Altogether, everyone had enough money to keep the group going.  But also, the cement seller joined them after a year or two to help out with the accounts.

The End

The Three Little Pigs and

The Big Friendly Wolf

by Caitlin

Once upon a time there were three little pigs who lived with their mother and father on a farm. One day the youngest pig thought that he would go and build himself a home. When he had only gone one km he found a pile of straw. It took him a whole day to build the house but when it was finished it didn’t look like a house so he fixed it up. After about a week the other pigs decided that they would go and build homes too. The second oldest pig made his house of sticks. But the oldest pig went straight to the town and bought some bricks and cement to build his house. It took a week to build that house because it was a very hard job. After a few days a friendly wolf came and asked the youngest pig to come and play with him but the pig said:

"No, go away ! Pigs don’t play with wolves."

So the wolf went to the second oldest pig’s house and called out to him:

"Little Pig, Little Pig, come out and play with me?"

But the little pig did not trust him so he called out:

"No go away pigs don’t play with wolves."

So the wolf sneaked down through the chimney but he got stuck on the way. The oldest pig was making a peaceful potion on the fire. When the potion was nearly ready he went of to collect the other pigs who wanted some of the potion. When the pigs had drunk the potion the youngest pig said:

"I wish I’d been nicer to the wolf"

and then the wolf was so surprised that he fell down and the second little said:

"There he is !"

Then the pigs said sorry and they ALL lived happily ever after.

Once upon a time there lived a girl named Cinderella.  Her Dad had died and had told Cinderella,

“When I die look after the house and Auntie Mary will look after you.” Cinderella’s Auntie Mary always told her to do the jobs around the house. Cinderella had to get up in the morning at five o’clock on the dot or something bad would happen but she didn’t know what. In the morning Cinderella would go to the chicken cage and get some eggs. She would cook them, and make a glass of milk before her Auntie woke up or she wouldn’t have any food for a week. For lunch she would cook some rice and fish, and for dinner she would pick some vegetables and sometimes turkey and sometimes duck. In between that she would do the dishes, mop the floor, wash clothes and every second day she would go to the well and collect water. That went on for a few days until one day in the mail there was an invitation to a ball, at which would be decided who would marry the king and prince. Both Cinderella and her Auntie were both very excited but Cinderella didn’t know if she was able to go. So she asked her Auntie and she said,

“Yes, only if you find a nice dress and help me find a nice dress too.” When they both had found a nice dress they left to go to the ball. When they had arrived the king and prince called off the ball saying they had found somebody for the prince and king to marry. The wedding went on the next day and everyone in the land came to see the marriage. Almost everyone brought a present and everyone had a great lunch, the big celebration feast. They all lived happily ever after.

Hansel and Gretel

Once upon a time there was a mean stepmother, a father and two children called Hansel and Gretel. They were very poor. One day the stepmother said to the father “Go to find a job and don’t come back until you find one!”. So the father said goodbye and left. The next day the children and their stepmother went to the woods to collect berries. Hansel had some stones in his pocket and dropped them on the path so they wouldn’t get lost. After picking berries they got tired and fell asleep and sneakily the stepmother left them and went home. They were all alone when they woke up. Gretel was unhappy they were lost but Hansel had dropped the stones along the way and they would help them get home. They followed the pebbles and found home. The next day they went into the woods and starting picking berries again. Hansel put breadcrumbs on the path so they wouldn’t get lost. Some crows ate the breadcrumbs. The children fell asleep and the mean stepmother snuck away to go back home. When they woke up they found that the breadcrumbs were missing. Gretel was unhappy and started to cry. They wandered around and found a house made of lollies and gingerbread and they started to eat it. Then a wicked witch came out of the door and put Hansel in a cage to eat later. While she was away locking Hansel up Gretel found a drink on the bedside table and took the drink and put some goodness potion inside it. When the witch drank it she turned into a good witch and she let Hansel free. They all went back home together and the witch changed the stepmother into a good stepmother and so they lived happily ever after.
