Teaching Notes

In our communities, in every day, peacemakers tirelessly work to make the world a better place. These unsung heroes often never want fame, work voluntarily and spend many hours, at their own expense both financially and socially to bring about the changes their spirits desire.

Children in schools can help these heroes. They can help by offering their own time to the projects undertaken. They can also write about the work of these people so this “good news” can be shared with others to inspire them to also work for the benefit of others and remind us of the good things that so often happen but we never hear about.

This activity would involve children either writing articles for local newspapers, designing posters to display in the community or creating webpages to load at their own school website. These heroes may not want the notoriety but their work should be shared so others can celebrate and be inspired as a consequence. This sharing of “good news” will reaffirm the peaceful and peace loving nature of the human spirit…and might even provide a way of honouring and saying thank you to these unsung heroes. Articles and/or posters could also be scanned and presented on webpages.
