Teaching Notes

Our lives have become driven by the so called “things that really matter” that often we pass by the funny or simple pleasures or occurrences. There are many things, unintentional things, that each day make us smile and remind us of our common humanity. Even in sorrow there can be joy if we only allow ourselves the opportunities to think positively about the situation. A smile or a laugh can quickly relieve pain even if only momentarily.

Our days are full of such miracles and often we don’t bother to find the moment to stop and enjoy and celebrate them. Perhaps if we also take a moment to record them others, too, can share them and be reminded also of the importance of allowing thinking space to enjoy these moments.

These precious everyday miracles can be recorded as pictures or drawings (even cartoons), or written up, then presented to community newspapers for publication or documented on webpages for school or community websites. Teaching that gratitude is important to maintaining a positive spirit is also significant in creating one's own personal peace then possibly even world peace.
