Teaching Notes

Creation stories found in many cultures throughout the world possess some common themes about how humanity began upon earth and how people were intended to treat each other being the children of this creation. There are some differences as well which are also worthwhile exploring, but this exploration can reveal some fascinating understandings as people throughout the world over time have tried to explain their existence and the reasons for creation. It can also instill appreciation for one's own and others' cultural heritage.
Perhaps the most enjoyment from this activity can be gained from children creating their own stories and having the opportunity to allow their vivid imaginations to explore some outlandish plots and characters.
Many of these stories though, whether they are ones created by the children or be existing creation stories, should all be shared not only amongst the class members but with family and friends.
