What is Dialogue Through Poetry?
In 1998, the United Nations General Assembly declared 2001 as the "United Nations Year of Dialogue Among Civilizations" to foster tolerance, respect and cooperation among peoples. To further this aim, Rattapallax Press together with the United Nations Society of Writers, presented a series of literary programs around the world at the end of March 2001. Over 250 poetry readings were organised in over 100 cities worldwide, including Sydney - for more on the 2001 Sydney reading go to Dialogue poems.

In 2003 readings were again being organised around the world with the theme of 'Can poetry create a culture of peace and non-violence in the world?'. Readings took place during the week beginning 16 March 2003 which is Dialogue Through Poetry Week and includes UNESCO's World Poetry Day.
