SIXTH NATIONAL OPEN RENDEZVOUS
Millmerran, QLD

Monday the ?th of July 2003 to Sunday the ?th of July 2003.

 

The sixth Open Rendezvous will be held at SSAA (Qld.) Inc. state property at Captains Mountain, Millmerran, Qld. from Monday the ?th of July 2003 to Sunday the ?th of July 2003 so start applying for those holidays, dust off the "threads" and get the gear organised!

Shooters from all clubs, please make contact as soon as you can so that we can talk about what events you wish to stage and what range and target preparations will be needed to accommodate your wishes!

As always, we will need volunteers as Shoot Range/ Safety Officers, people to man Registration rtc. Please phone me (Les Armitage) at home on (07) 3818-2082 to start the ball rolling or for any queries.

The Committee has just been formed and we have yet to have some meetings so please bear with us and as more information comes to hand you will be advised via the next Newsletter.

COST: $45 for the family for Friday to Monday (10 days)

$30 for singles for Friday to Monday (10 days)

Camping Fees before / after this time frame $2 per head per day for 10+ year olds.

STIPULATION: NO DOGS / CATS - a decision prompted by concerns about public liabilities.

The sixth National will mark the 10th anniversary of the National Open to be held at Captain's Mountain Millmerran and as such will be a special occasion to be enjoyed by the pilgrims who travel from many different locations, both near and far, and to the local people of the Millmerran Township and Shire.

TRADERS ROW

Traders Row will be located back to its original site on the right hand side of the Common area. Traders who wish to have the ground around their site covered with a suitable gravel cover please advise Les or Doug the size of your trade tent. Roads around the Common area will be closed one week before the rendezvous, and for the duration of the rendezvous, entry of service vehicles only. Traders will be able to access their sites from the road at the rear of Traders Row; a dedicated parking area will be established for vehicles and trailers.

DISABILITY PARKING

Disability parking area will be available. Please advise Les or Doug of your requirements. Vehicles must display on the windshield, the permit issued by your State or Local Council.

SENECA RUN

Please make sure you book your Seneca Run at the Trading Post. Andrea will have a timetable so book your preferred time early to avoid disappointment. There will be prizes for Men's team, Ladies team, Male & Female team and Adult & Junior team. (Note: Juniors must be 15 years old or over).

Range Officers are required to assist running the Seneca Run. If you also wish to compete in the event you will be required to complete the course before starting Range Officer duties. Please advise the staff at the Trading Post.

LONG RANGE SHOOT

Starting on Sunday ?th from 09:00 until the Range Officers and staff start getting the taste for an ice cold XXXX (beer for the southern folks). The event will be open for black powder cartridge and muzzle loading firearms. Further information will be displayed on the notice board near the rendezvous range entrance.

Would clubs wishing to conduct rendezvous fun shoots over the official rendezvous period please send your information to

Once again we will be holding a Street Parade in Millmerran on Wednesday
?th July in conjunction with a Market and street stalls that are being organised by the Millmerran Tourism and Progress Association. The Queensland Police Pipes and Drums have accepted our invitation to lead the Parade once again, so baring last minute official duties, we can look forward to their presence.

Saturday -
25 target open shotgun commencing at 13:15. Shooters will load and shoot in a random queue from traps located in various positions about the range, including John's infamous 'Rat Up a Drain'.

15 of the targets will be of the field and game type with 10 being FOWEL SHOOTING which we don't think anyone has yet had a go at in Australia.

Saturday evening a camp oven cooked Colonial Stew will be available for those that wish to camp or remain for dinner.
