CRT Procedure
-
Take note of your Monitor's current "Contrast", "Brightness",
and "Colour Temperature" settings in case you need to return to them

Adjust Monitor "Contrast" to display White at the
most pleasing level (usually maximum setting)

The 95% box should be visible within the 100% (white)
box

Adjust Monitor "Brightness" to make the Black bar
(top left) as black as possible, whilst keeping the lowest shades of grey
visible

The 5% box should be visible within the 0% (black)
box

Adjust Monitor "Colour Temperature" to make greys
as neutral as possible

Return
to the Index page

After viewing photos, you may need to return your
monitor to it's previous settings
LCD Procedure
-
Take note of your Monitor and Video Driver's current
"Contrast", "Brightness", "Colour Temperature" and "Gamma" settings in
case you need to return to them

Set Monitor "Contrast" to display 100% White at the
level just below the point where whites are crushed, or colour shifts begin
to occur (usually default setting or slightly below)

The 95% box should be visible within the 100% (white)
box, and the colours should both be neutral

Set Monitor "Brightness" to set white brightness to
a comfortable level (usually below default setting)
-
The 5% box should be visible within the 0% (black)
box
-
Adjust Monitor "Colour Temperature" to make greys
as neutral as possible

Adjust Monitor or Video Driver "Gamma" to get a pleasing
ratio of dark to light tones on some test images

Return
to the Index page

After viewing photos, you may need to return your
monitor to it's previous settings
