When to use Source Memory
When Source Memory is on, all the modifiers/parameters that were used for a Source the last time you used it are used (rather than the parameters currently set on an M/E buss). This is apparent when you change a Source on a row.

Perhaps an example is in order. Imagine you have set up a "Cube" effect using three Transform Engines. To get the square required for each face of the cube, you have chosen to use a Preset Pattern on each keyer. And it's working beautifully. But now you wish to put a camera on the top face, so you select Camera 2 on Key1. But the last time you used Camera 2, it was as a Chromakey, so Source Memory switches Key1 into Chr mode. Instead of a square top on your brilliant cube, you now have a rectangular image with holes wherever there's any of the chromakey backing-colour in shot. Messy.

Or consider another example, where you cut to your exterior weather camera. But the last time you used it, it was an overcast day, and the picture looked too blue, so you tweaked the colour with the Video Proc Amp to "yellow" it up. And now the Proc Amp switches in unbidden, to make the shot yellow again.

In my opinion, Source Memory is handy for setting-up effects, but should be turned off to do the show.

I used to juggle between on and off in order to transfer the settings from one keyer to another; now with the Copy/Swap feature, there is no need. Only if I was regularly tweaking Proc Amp settings - live - for multiple sources (and not storing them in E-Mems) would I consider running with Source Memory turned on. Then again, I never say never.
