Source/Destination Naming Conventions

Plan the names you will use with User Displays in mind.

Some displays (such as the green M/E Status panels or the LED readouts on the Remote 32-button Multi Aux panel) truncate long names, which can lead to confusion.

Consider naming destinations and sources with the unique information first: use "3Clean Feed" instead of "Clean Feed 3" (which would appear as "Clean Fe" on the 8-character display of a 32-Button Aux panel). This problem is also apparent on some names shown on graphical "buttons" in the Kalypso Menu.

Sources with long names can be truncated in a similar way. Give an Engineering name that can be recognised within 8 characters (for the same reason). The operator may then change the names through the Source Patch menu, but the standard naming should be without traps.
