Preview Monitors

I've seen installations that send the PPpA preview to a monitor, as well as the Switcher Preview. That way, there's always a look-ahead of the PP row, no matter what else you might be previewing.

Other places feed M/E A-outputs to monitors. This shows the primary program output from the M/E - what you would get if you pressed the M/E button. When "Auto" mode look-ahead-preview becomes available (in a later software release), these monitors could be fed with M/EpvA, which would show the M/E output when the M/E is NOT online, and a look-ahead-preview when the M/E IS online. This is the operation of the GVG-300 M/E previews, all those years ago.

Every facility needs the Switched Preview output fed to a monitor. This shows cursors, key signals, the Preview bus - to name but a few.

In addition to the main Switched Preview, the OB Trailers in my own organistion have four monitors for M/E preview purposes. Two show the A outputs of M/E1 and M/E2 (M1A and M2A). The other two are swapped between the look-ahead previews (M1pA and M2pA) or the B outputs (M1B and M2B), mainly dependant on whether the program uses "Split" M/E modes. If these monitors are fed from a Logical Aux Bus, instead of using Direct sources, the operator could create 2 macros for each M/E: One would put the M/E into "Split" mode and change the preview to M/E B, and the other would put the M/E into "Prog CF" mode and change the preview to M/EpvA. The configurability of the Kalypso is awesome. (The reason for the Aux bus in this case is that a Macro may not be able to change Engineering Setups, if EIC Login is not active.)
