How to do some of those complicated effects you've been dreaming about
|
The "3-D" Button Look
The illusion of a "raised" button is created when there is a light edge above and to the left of a Key, with a dark edge below and to the right. Swapping the colours makes the button look "recessed".
On the keyer, activate the "Shadow" edge. Adjust the direction (by pressing and holding "Shadow" and turning the "Border Position/Direction" knob) to put the border below and to the right with one line of size. Make this border black. (If this is a rectangle, use a Preset Pattern and reduce the size slightly to enable the shadow to be seen. Otherwise shadow is "out of screen area" and therefore not visible.)
Send this keyer through a Transform Engine by pressing "Effects Send". In the Transform Shadow menu, turn on the shadow. Make its size 1.0, its opacity 100%, its colour white, its X-offset a small negative number (enough to balance the size of the keyer shadow, such as -0.03). Make the Y-offset a small positive number (again, to be the same size as the keyer's shadow, perhaps 0.03).
The opacity of both the black shadow and the white shadow can be adjusted to give a slightly softer edge.
The end result gives a subtle 3-D look.
