How to do some of those complicated effects you've been dreaming about

Putting a Border on a Transform Engine
There are two way to do this. Turn on [Eff Send] to send the Key Source via a Transform Engine. Reduce the size of the TE so you can see what's happening.

When working with Transform Engines, it's a good idea to initiate a "Clear All" in the "T-form | Transform" menu, to remove crops and reset everything to a known state.
  • Using a Transform Shadow
    • Turn on [Drop Shadow] for the Transform Engine in the "Transform | Drop Shadow" Menu.
    • Set the Drop Shadow "Shadow" parameters: X-Offset = 0; Y-Offset = 0; Size = 1.09; Opacity = 100%.
    • Set the Drop Shadow "Shadow Color" parameters to your liking. (The TE Drop Shadow has one colour, like most external DVEs.)
    • This style of border is outside the Transform Engine, and can be any size
  • Using a Preset Pattern Border
    • Use "Pst Ptn" as the Key Mode, with a rectangular Keyer Wipe.
    • In the Wipe Menu, add a border to the Keyer Wipe. Adjust the Keyer Wipe Aspect and Keyer Size to reach the edge of the frame.
    • The Preset Pattern Border colour can be changed from the Mattes Menu (for example, "Matte | M/E1 | Key1 | Border | Base Fill") or from the panel. (This border can have a second Wash Colour, if desired.)
    • This style of border is within the boundary of the Transform Engine, so as the border gets bigger, more of the key is obscured.
