Before and After

I regularly buy neglected 2nd hand miniatures both from eBay and from my local gaming shop. These miniatures are generally painted to a basic level and in pretty poor shape from years of use.

In this section of the site I'll take one such miniature every month (or so), strip it and then repaint it, hopefully giving it a new lease of life.

Just one thing worth noting ... this certainly isn't an ego building exercise. It's just a bit of fun, taking someone's unwanted miniatures and making them look the best I'm able to.

current before and after project

1st cab off the rank is this fellow, an old Citadel dwarf leaning on a walking stick, clutching at his back. Definitely a classic in my books.

Next step: stripping.

He was a real bitch to strip (after 10+ years enamels feel they have the right to stay exactly where they are...) but here he is finally painted.

The detail really is pretty good for something this old and I still say that GW produces nothing this characterful anymore. I'll be painting as many of these old dwarves as I can get my hands on...

next up...

This is without doubt one butt ugly miniature... Citadel came up with some real classics in the 80's but his sure aint one of them... I like the ugly little bugger though so he'll be the next 'before & after' project.
