Putting effort trying to fulfill your talent is a commendable end in itself which is not dependent on success
Do you take comfort in the fact that even though there are parts of your life where you are unhappy miserable even, that there are others where you can rejoice and feel happy. Your view is that the sad and miserable part is counter-balanced by the happy areas of your life.
There is nothing wrong with that world view if you do not want to move on, do not want to excel, do not want to grow, do not want to discover your peak performance envelope, do not want to discover yourself before you die. In any other circumstance, the package with happiness
is one. There is only a one. That is if there is something in your life making you miserable you are miserable. The happier parts of your life do not counter-balance the sadness temnporarily perhaps if it is fuelled by drugs, alcohol and smoking. But in the long run, every part
of your life must be in synch with the others, each contributing in their own way to the mix and each a part of the whole. Living a miserable existence Monday to Friday in a corporate living hell to rejoice on Saturday and Sunday is less than a whole, is less that a life.
Don't all the stars in heaven have to be in synch for you to be happy in all aspects of your life? It is not as difficult as that and not easy as that. Knowing that there is some point in the future when all aspects will come together for you allows you now to put in place a plan
for happiness in each aspect of your life. This is done because obviously you cannot change every aspect overnight but you can change a number in sequence over time. They of themselves will not lead to your happiness but they will lead you closer to the moment when all the plans in train
finally coalesce and coincide. For this to happen takes time, perseverance, cunning, intelligence and tenacity and knowing what you want and waiting patiently for it whilst doing everything possible to push each aspect along even if just a bit each day.
If you are miserable in your job, in your work, in your profession the thing to do is select another area you may be interested in, decide what sort of training and experience you need and go out there and get it. For example if you are a corporate professional in law, accounting,
commerce, business and you want work where you can contract or freelance, you should get your Six Sigma Black Belt (mind you a tough ask) and do a course in Executive Coaching. That combination should be able to utilise your previous experience in something that you will hopefully enjoy but that
is a example. There are other career paths if you are set on leaving corporate life.
Change is inevitable, it is part of the human firmament and cannot be disentangled from any other aspect of life. Therefore rather than wait for change, race for it, reach for it, extend yourself to it, embrace it and live it. It takes courage and strength to be open to change in your life.
Most people are petrified of changing jobs, house, partner, country, language but in hindsight it may probably turn out to be the best change (within reason) you ever made. On the other hand, the change could also be catastrophic but that is the nature of the game.
If you are unhappy in your personal relationship, then do something about it. Is it you or is it them? Is it retrievable or is it irreparably lost? Do you know the difference or can you ever know the difference? A good great decision in this instance is probably impossible as there are too many
variables, too many unknowns, too many uncertainties, too many future questions that cannot be answered right now when you need to make a decision.
If you are at an unhappy stage in your life not related to your work and personal relationship, then take a step back and determine what is exactly wrong? If nothing is obviously wrong then the problem is probably more subtle and more difficult to diagnose and treat. Where do you start when there
is nowhere to start and where do you investigate and analyse when there is no data to go on. Where do you get this data? If you don't have data, then this investigation of a nefarious unhappiness is pure conjecture, pure speculation, pure fantasy.
If you have reached nearly the end of your life and you feel your life has been wasted, unfulfilled, empty, shallow and materialistic is there anything you can do but just simply die? Is there some sort of reconciliation before death, acceptance and closing of the books? What can you do? Is there
anything you can or should do? I don't think there is a life coaching journey from the near end to the far end. There is only the end of the initial journey.
If you are at the start of your journey then the possibilities are endless but that doesn't mean you will realise all those possibilities for from it, it only means that will the right help, coaching and expert advice and assistance you may begin to realise your full potential. This is easier said
than done because talent is not a ticket for the journey.
If at whatever particular stage of your life you come to the realisation that you have not fulfilled to the extent of your full talent there this would normally lead to a deep painful lacerating regret. Almost an end in itself. I have lived with a man (my father) who did not fulfill his towering
talent, his disintegration was lamentable to those who knew from the outside what was going on inside but for he himself it must have been like being imprisoned alive inside a pestilential prison. He lived inside these filthy walls for 25 years and his crucifixion was heart rending to those who loved him and
I most of all.

When you give up something make sure what you give doesn't come back to plague your days and haunt your nights
When you give up something that really matters to you a little bit of you dies
The relief you feel when you let go something you really cherish but analyse at the time as something you cannot achieve. The lack of tension at giving up something you have been working on assiduously for months years even. The feeling of letting go and not being tied to a perceived previous failure on the same journey. All these feelings
are a fools paradise a good idea at the time but in hindsight an unmitigated disaster. When you quit something you really had set your heart on completing you obliterate a little piece of you yourself, you set in place an unforgiving regret engine which will take its full force at a later stage almost the aftermath of the disaster, probably something
worse than the disaster itself and one which will engulf you in a a wave of self-loathing. It is tempting to think that if you stop some additional effort say totalling 20 hours or more a week for an easy life, you will immediately feel better, lightened but this immediate feeling is as a result of the emptying of your life force your 'raison d'etre'
and it actually forms a vacuum and as nature abhors a vacuum and what fills it is the most horrendous thoughts, fears and feelings you mind can mount against you.
Before letting go and during the time when you're contemplating letting go (quitting university, quitting a job, quitting a relationship, quitting a mortgage, quitting your life even) you're temporarily insane. This ultimately leads to the failure discussed above but the period prior to the failure itself is one of temporary disconnection from your grounded
reality, from your base to a surreal reality which appears real and has all the signs of reality but is actually a heated, fevered, artificial reality. This 'mania' is hard to guard against and normally has to run its course which ultimately leads to disaster. You can confuse this mania for great enthusiasm for great motivation for great effort but actually it
is a period of great disconnects from what will ultimately matter.
When you give up something that really matters to you a little bit of you dies and when someone prevents you from making or doing or finishing what you started then a little bit of your relationship dies too. This is inevitable. Be careful when blaming someone else for you not completing something it is actually you who didn't complete who is 100% responsible for
that state of affairs. Does this mean in the final analysis you should disregard what people think to do what you know is right even to the point of selfishness, the clear answer to that is yes absolutely. After all, when you sit on your deathbed who will you blame for not having delivered to yourself, just you. So if you have time now, get out and do what you want to do
regardless of what anybody thinks. The thing to be watchful about is to ensure you do your risk analysis and mitigation plan. This will make sure you don't need to come back to your starting point. Very embarrassing all round.

Obesity and the roller coaster ride from nadir to zenith and back
There are five journeys in obesity, which one are you on now?
Why are there obese people when there are people starving in the world? Is obesity a medical problem rather than
one of lack of self-control or perhaps even one using food for sexual/sensual gratification for masking (?) the real problems?
How successful is someone who is 250 kilos at 'masking' or hiding the problem?
The five journeys is obesity are -
Getting there becoming obese, this is the easiest journey of all and happens almost without you knowing. This journey is on the road to death.
Staying there at a steady weight, this is a hard journey because the tendency is to put on more weight not less. This journey is a slow death.
The next journey is one into hell and that is on the road to putting on more and more weight. This is the last journey these people even embark on.
This journey ends in death.
The penultimate journey and the one with the most difficulty starting is the road back away from obesity. The enormous journey back is not the problem
but the first step back, the first gram lost. This journey is not a journey of weight loss but a journey to lose the fears and problems that the weight gain had
temporarily put on the back burner. This second last journey is the life coaching journey and has much less to do with weight loss, exercise and fitness and more to do with
facing problems in their real intensity and fury perhaps for the first time since the decision taken to embark on the first journey.
The last journey and that is to keep the weight at the target weight after the massive task of weight loss because again the tendency is to put the weight back on
even faster than before and much much faster than it was lost. For every gram lost a kilo is put on.
Work with a life coach who understands your weight problem is not a weight problem but a personal problem posing, impersonating a weight problem. Someone who knows which
journey you are on and can make sure you either move to the next healthy journey or stay at the healthy journey you're on.

Coaching Programs
555 Program
The 555 Program is complementary to the 333 Program and is part of a family of programs called The Numbered Series, a simplification of a plethora of products, services and programs into
a number of specifically targeted set of programs that target a very specific audience with a limited amount of time and resources to devote to a life and executive coaching program. The programs
covers a set of goals over a set period for a specific (one time only) fee.
The key goals of the 555 Program is to be able to run 5k in 5 months, to solve 5 life coaching issues or problems in 5 months and to investigate and resolve 5 executive coaching problems
in 5 months.
Life Coaching Portal Programs
Beyond the existing Diamond program being run on the portal, a series of additional programs are being developed to be run for specific audiences and which have very clear targets and goals.
These include the following.
The 555 Program
Gilbert Labour, will personally run this program. It will probably take in the region of 10 suitable people and run for 5 months. The program is multi-faceted and covers three main streams a fitness stream, a life coaching stream
dealing with personal issues and an executive stream to supercharge your work, business and corporate environment.
The first stream is a fitness element. The goal is to be able to run 5k (non stop) in five months and be able to lose 5 kilos in the process. This is a modest achievement and is considered a healthy approach to fitness generally.
I am a former fitness instructor and dance teacher and can provide guidance in this area. You will need a clearance from your doctor if you're over 45.
The second stream is a life coaching element. The goal of the life coaching is to investigate a number of current personal issues and focus on 5 for resolution in 5 months. One to be resolved or at least worked on each month.
The third stream is an executive coaching element. The goal of this element is to come up with five goals or issues to be dealt with in the 5 months of the program. These could involve working towards a promotion, changing jobs, changing careers,
leaving the corporate environment and developing a small business. For the hard core executives and other corporate thrivers and survivors there will be a number of areas that include executive interview training and executive decision making that can be covered.
There are many others and these can be chosen based on your current goals. The aim of this stream is canvass all the possibilities and focus on only 5 and work through each one.
The cost of the program varies. To take part on a one-on-one basis with Gilbert Labour will cost $5000. To take part in a group setting will cost $2000. Individual programs can start at anytime considered suitable.
To provide this program on a company wide basis (more than 10 people), please call Gilbert Labour for a quote.
Please call Gilbert Labour on 0409 223 436 if you would like to take part. Further information on the 555 Program is available from the portal.
General Information
I also do a small amount of pro-bono work in the area of life coaching. I belong to the Life Coaching Pro Bono Group (LCPBG), a group of life coaches I am putting together to do this type of work for people in need but who may not be able to afford the services of a full fee life coach. We make allowances for your circumstances and also on the understanding that once you're back on your
feet, your capacity to contribute to your life coaching will also improve.
Generally speaking, we will set clear goals, we will put in place plans to attain those goals, we will execute the plan effectively. We will monitor and survey the results and ensure our goals are met. In most cases, we will envelope what we are trying to achieve into a coaching programme.
I operate flexibly taking into account the needs of the client as we progress with the programme.
Please call me on my mobile (0409 223 436) for a confidential discussion to begin the journey of self discovery.
